Meet Specialist Ashlyn Francis, a 42A, Human Resources Specialist, assigned to HHC, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, from Fayetteville, North Carolina.
Francis decided to join the U.S. Army after years of working in the civilian sector and not being “fulfilled.”
“Both of my parents served in the Army,” says Francis. “I also wanted to join to follow their footsteps.”
Francis serves as the Brigade S1 clerk, she tracks the accountability of soldiers within the unit and ensures the Brigade’s “strength” numbers are correct.
The 1st Combat Aviation Brigade is conducting Port Operations as their 9-month deployment in Europe ends. During these operations, aircraft will fly to the Port from various European countries. Francis says her job is so important during this process because “I keep track of the number of soldiers that are here. That allows us to complete the mission and return home to Fort. Riley, Kansas.”
The 1st Air Cavalry Brigade will assume the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade’s mission to “Assure and Deter” later this summer.
