Soldiers and civilian contractors who attended the Transition Noncommissioned Officer Course 501-ASI4R Class 002-24 graduated June 20. The course provided by Reserve Component Transition career counselors assigned to the U.S. Army Human Resources Command who train Army Reserve 79Vs (Army Reserve career counselors), Army National Guard 79Ts (Recruiting and Retention NCOs), Active Army 79Ss (career counselors) and Army National Guard Strength Enhancement Program civilian contractors on the Reserve Component Transition mission. The Reserve Component Transition mission includes guiding transitioning active component Soldiers into the Reserve component, both Army National Guard and Reserve, at the conclusion of their active service. Soldiers must successfully complete the Transition NCO Course to be awarded ASI 4R. Topics covered in the course include counseling techniques, processing requirements, enlistment/transfer eligibility, options, incentives, automation, processing enlistment/transfer packets, pre-transition briefings, transition ceremonies, military service obligation and fulfillment, contract distribution, assignment reservation, transition periods, creating and editing an enlistment/transition contract, responsibilities of the Reserve Component Transition NCO and how to manage a successful Reserve Component Transition program. SFC Cox, SFC Jackson and SFC Sarfo all scored 100% on the final test.
