    NEW LONDON, Connecticut (June 21, 2024) – Cmdr. Gregory Coy, incoming commanding officer of the future USS Iowa (SSN 797), and Capt. John Stafford, commodore of Submarine Squadron (SUBRON) 4, salute during a change-of-command ceremony for the future at Fort Trumbull in New London, Connecticut, June 21, 2024. Coy relieved Cmdr. Matthew Powell during the ceremony. The pre-commissioning unit (PCU) Iowa and crew operate under Submarine Squadron (SUBRON) 4, whose primary mission is to provide fast-attack submarines that are ready, willing, and able to meet the unique challenges of undersea combat and deployed operations in unforgiving environments across the globe.
