SAN ANTONIO – (June 25, 2024) – San Antonio Mayor, the Hon. Ron Nirenberg, delivered closing remarks at the inaugural AIM Health R&D Summit held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Designed to promote cross-sector collaboration in the development of life-saving battlefield technologies, the summit combines three of San Antonio's leading life sciences events: Military Medical Industry Day (MMID), BexarBio pitch competition, and the San Antonio Military Health and Universities Research Forum (SURF). “These past few days were impactful because they brought together top tier minds from San Antonio’s multi-faceted industries through a compilation of events…,” said Nirenberg. “These events serve to support start-ups, connect medical technologies to our military, and attract presenters from around the nation to showcase the great work that is underway in the Alamo City.” NAMRU San Antonio’s mission is to conduct gap driven combat casualty care, craniofacial, and directed energy research to improve survival, operational readiness, and safety of Department of Defense (DoD) personnel engaged in routine and expeditionary operations. It is one of the leading research and development laboratories for the U.S. Navy under the DoD and is one of eight subordinate research commands in the global network of laboratories operating under the Naval Medical Research Command in Silver Spring, Md.
