Sgt. Khadijah Biscaino, a 68W Combat Medics assigned to the 44th Medical Brigade, prepares to load ammunition into a M249 light machine gun at the Fort Liberty, NC firing range on Mar. 8, 2024. She served as a test player for an operational field test conducted by the U.S. Army Medical Test Evaluation Activity (USAMTEAC). The test assessed the holistic employment and use of the M249 LMG in other medical formations. USAMTEAC collected data on the M249’s impact on medical soldiers as they complete daily mission requirements. This included if soldiers were impeded by physical, logistical, or any other factors, while equipped with the squad automatic weapon. The test was conducted under day, day chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN), night, and night CBRN conditions.
