Crews from Roen Salvage, Co. from Sturgeon bay, Wisc. work on rebuilding the Algoma south breakwater by placing metal piles into the bedrock near the former wall. It will then be encased in concrete. The current wall was first constructed in the 1880's from timber cribbing and covered in concrete in 1934. Construction is managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Chicago District and begins June 2024. Completion is expected in June 2026.
