Corey Boyer, construction representative, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District, oversees the placement of 2,800 sandbags along two levees in Atchison County and Holt County, Missouri, June 26, 2024. The sandbags were requested by local community levee sponsors to reinforce and temporarily raise levee heights in some of the lower laying areas as a precautionary measure against flood waters in June 2024 from the Missouri River. Nine USACE levee surveillance teams went onsite to levee locations and engaged with levee sponsors, state, tribal and emergency management officials to continue to monitor river conditions.
