U.S. Army soldiers assigned to 1st Cavalry Division stand with NATO allies before the Lithuanian Land Forces Day ceremony in Kryzkalnis, Lithuania, July 15, 2024. This day is dedicated to the Lithuanian partisans and their liaisons who were killed or tortured. It honors them and their supporters who sacrificed their lives for Lithuania’s freedom in the post-war fight against Soviet occupiers. The 1st Cavalry Division’s mission in Europe is to engage in multinational training and exercises across the continent, working alongside NATO allies and regional security partners to provide combat-credible forces to V Corps, America’s forward-deployed corps in Europe.
