USAID/Egypt, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), UN Women, and CARE launched the five-year joint program "Ending Violence Against Women and Girls" (EVAW/G) in collaboration with The Ministry of International Cooperation (MIC), the Ministry of Social Solidarity (MOSS), the National Council for Women (NCW), and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM).
The project will advance Egyptian efforts to expand women and girls’ participation in society, promote economic and social empowerment, and counter all forms of violence against women and girls, including preventing child marriage, domestic violence, and female genital mutilation and cutting.
The launch took place in the presence of Dr. Nevine El-Kabbaj, Minister of MOSS; Dr. Maya Morsy, President of NCW; Ms. Evyenia Sidereas, U.S. Embassy Chargé d’affaires; Ms. Germaine Haddad, UNFPA Representative in Egypt and Ms. Vivian Thabet, CARE’s Chief of Party for the EVAW/G program in Egypt.
