240718-N-ER894-1192 NAVAL MAGAZINE INDIAN ISLAND, Wash. (July 18, 2024) Sailors heave on a mooring line as the U.S. Navy’s only forward-deployed aircraft carrier, USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), moors onto a pier at Naval Magazine Indian Island, Washington, July 18. Indian Island is the U.S. Navy’s only deep-water ammunition port on the West Coast, where the installation can provide conventional ordnance support to vessels ranging from destroyers to submarines and aircraft carriers. As an integral part of U.S. Pacific Fleet, U.S. 3rd Fleet operates naval forces in the Indo-Pacific in addition to providing realistic and relevant training necessary to flawlessly execute our Navy’s timeless roles of sea control and power projection. U.S. 3rd Fleet works in close coordination with other numbered fleets to provide commanders with capable, ready forces to deploy forward and win in day-to-day competition, in crisis, and in conflict.
