    U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Louis Schaefer, a fixed-wing aircraft mechanic with Marine All-Weather Fighter Attack Squadron (VMFA(AW)) 224, Marine Aircraft Group 31, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, directs an F/A-18 Hornet aircraft before taking off for an orientation flight at Suwon Air Base, South Korea, July 17, 2024. VMFA(AW)-224, known as the Fighting Bengals, is supporting MAG-12, 1st MAW under the Unit Deployment Program, which aims at providing squadrons experience operating in the Indo-Pacific. The Fighting Bengals traveled to Suwon Air Base, South Korea, to enhance their standard of readiness and lethality with our South Korean allies and joint forces. Schaefer is a native of Ohio.
