New York Army National Guard soldiers of the 42nd Infantry Division held a memorial service for U.S. Army Sgt. Kenneth W. Wrobel on August 8, 2024 at Fort Drum, New York. Wrobel served with the 42nd ID Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion maintenance section as a utilities equipment repairer Sergeant for over nine years, including the 2020 deployment of the 42nd ID to Kuwait in support of Operation Spartan Shield. Commander of the 42nd ID HHBN, Lt. Col. Katie Schin said "Sgt. Wrobel was a dedicated soldier and a talented mechanic who was always willing to volunteer to help the team. He often went above and beyond his normal duties helping with vehicle repairs too. Sgt. Wrobel was a valued member of our team and a source of strength to all who knew him. He wore his uniform with pride and faced every challenge with courage and determination. May Sgt. Wrobel rest in peace and may we continue to carry forward his legacy of service with the same dedication and spirit that he embodied.” (U.S. Army National Guard photo by 1st Lt. Tiffany Paruolo).
