ABC correspondent Luis Martinez, right, discusses ramifications of artificial intelligence in journalism during a panel discussion Aug. 8, 2024, at the Defense Information School on Fort Meade, Maryland. Martinez joined three other panelists: from left, DINFOS Instructor Stephen Von Jett, Dataminr Vice President Mike Loos, and Syracuse Instructor Rafael Concepcion. The panel discussed the impact of AI on public affairs and visual information in the Department of Defense. The panel discussion kicked off a day of training for DINFOS alumni. DINFOS hosted an Alumni Training Day August 8, inviting all Department of Defense public affairs and visual information professionals to return "back to school" for a day of modernizing their PA and VI skillsets. The training sessions covered topics such as artificial intelligence, information advantage, countering misinformation and disinformation, graphic design, podcasting, and storytelling trends. The Defense Information School celebrated its 60-year anniversary August 7-8 at its campus on Fort Meade, Maryland. August 7 marked the DINFOS Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, where the school proudly welcomed its newest members into the Hall of Fame. The celebrations concluded the evening of August 8 with the DINFOS Diamond Jubilee. Attendees enjoyed live music, special guests, and the camaraderie of DINFOS family and friends.
