Kennedy (CVN 79) new construction aircraft carrier program, and Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su, arrive aboard the Ford-class aircraft carrier Pre-Commissioning Unit John F. Kennedy (CVN 79), Aug. 28, 2024. During the visit, Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro, alongside Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su and Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03), saw firsthand how important the maritime industrial base workforce is for the construction of the world’s most technologically-advanced Gerald R. Ford-class aircraft carrier. John F. Kennedy is the second Ford-class aircraft carrier and is under construction at HII's Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division in Newport News, Virginia.
