Maj. Kelly K. Spencer, perioperative nurse instructor at the Army Trauma Training Course in Miami, wanted to be an operating room nurse since she shadowed her aunt at a hospital in Clarion, Iowa when she was 11 years old. She combined her passion for nursing and the military when she commissioned in 2011 following graduation from ROTC at Creighton University in Nebraska. (U.S. Army photo illustration)
