Ansbach, Germany (5 September 2024) U.S. Army Garrison (USAG) Ansbach in cooperation with 12th Combat Aviation Brigade (CAB) hosted over 200 German children from several surrounding communities from Ansbach and Illesheim area for a kid’s summer fun program during the month of August.
The current stationed rotational unit at Storck Barracks, Illesheim, 615th Aviation Support Battalion, explained to the children the mission and equipment of a medical helicopter and the tasks of a medic. To have the best possible experience the children had the chance to fake an injury and to get carried on a rescue stretcher around the helicopter to get “treated.” Another part of this experience was to sit on the rescue hoist and to learn the purpose behind it.
USAG Ansbach is a U.S. Army Power Projection Platform consisting of aviation, engineering, and artillery assets spread across nine kasernes in the heart of Middle Franconia, Germany.
