PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — U.S. Department of Defense contractors install an Overhead Gunner Protection Kit (OGPK), commonly referred to as “turret” atop a Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) MaxxPro vehicle Aug. 27, 2024. The OGPKs will enhance the field of view and protection of Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission personnel utilizing MRAPs during joint security operations with the Haitian National Police. U.S. Air Force C-17 transport crews began delivering 34 OGPKs to Haiti August 23. The contractors will install the kits on 34 MRAPs delivered for the MSS under a Presidential Drawdown Authority that permits the transfer of U.S. federal resources to nations contributing personnel to the MSS to bolster their support of Haitian led security operations.
