During the ceremony, DeBoer relieved Cmdr. Thomas Dixon as commanding officer of Asheville. Assigned to Commander, Submarine Squadron 15 at Polaris Point, Naval Base Guam, Asheville is one of four Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarines forward-deployed in the Pacific.
