Dr. Lance Chamberlain, a cognitive performance specialist with U.S. Special Operations Command Europe reviews the results of biofeedback with a U.S. soldier in Stuttgart, Germany, Dec. 19, 2023. A finger-tip sensor provides real-time feedback on heart rate variability, skin conductance, and temperature that is then used to teach service members skills to control physiological arousal. Cognitive performance is a key part of total readiness for Special Operations Forces service members. This enables SOCEUR troops to perform at their peak ability in order to achieve the mission of working with Allies and partners to counter malign influence, build interoperability, rapidly respond to emerging threats and if necessary, defeat aggression on the European continent.
