The theme of this exhibit case is 3-D printing in military medicine as part of the “Military Medical Innovations: The Future Is Here” exhibit. On the top shelf is an inkjet printer that was modified for 3-D cellular printing of tissue and organs. On the lower shelf (left to right), a set of 3-D printed surgical instruments, a 3-D printed nasopharyngeal swab used to collect samples for testing during the COVID-19 pandemic, and a prototype community face mask developed for use during the COVID-19 pandemic. The exhibit was on display between July and September 2024 at the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Silver Spring, Maryland.
