Mark Oakley, chief nurse case manager with the Ohio Army National Guard Medical Readiness Detachment, draws blood from a teen patient during GuardCare 2024 at the Greene County Career Center in Xenia, Ohio, Aug. 11, 2024. Over two days, a contingent of Ohio National Guard members, U.S. Public Health Service officers and other U.S. military medical professionals provided a multitude of healthcare services to the citizens of Greene County, free of charge, which allows many children in the local area to become up to date on medical care before going back to school.
