Torii Station was recognized on July 31, 1945 as Army Service Command I, which was formed by the integration of the Island Command Okinawa and the Command le Shima. Today, U.S. Army Garrison Okinawa provides support to nine installations and five remote sites, with Torii Station as the hub for services and programs and the official headquarters for the Garrison.
