Tiwi Island-Mantiyupwi Clan elders and Larrakia people lead U.S. Marines and Sailors with Marine Rotational Force–Darwin 24.3 and Australian Army soldiers with 1st Brigade in a spiritual walk in preparation for a Pukumani ceremony at Defence Establishment Berrimah, NT, Australia, Sept. 24, 2024. U.S. Marines were honored by the Tiwi Island and Larrakia people during the week leading up to two culturally significant ceremonies: a healing ceremony and a Pukumani ceremony. These ceremonies commemorated the three U.S. Marines who tragically lost their lives in a U.S. Marine Corps MV-22B Osprey crash on Melville Island on Aug. 27, 2023.
