From the December 1, 1967 edition of Service to the Fleet, using a “strong back spreader”, James Creecy, Raymond Griffin, John H. Brinkley, G. Earl Thompson, Wincel E Lawson and Clarence E. Doll guide the 42-ton bulkhead into place. The bulkhead was the first major structural installation and was key to the entire repair sequence.
