The Seabee logo, commonly referred to as the Seabee emblem, is an iconic symbol that features a determined-looking bee armed with a wrench, hammer, and a machine gun, flying with a tool belt strapped around its waist. The bee is depicted in mid-flight, wearing a sailor’s cap, symbolizing its connection to the U.S. Navy.

    Significance:

    1. Bee: The bee represents industriousness, teamwork, and resilience. Seabees are known for their ability to “build and fight,” often working in difficult and challenging conditions to complete construction projects while also being ready to defend their work. The bee captures the spirit of tireless labor combined with combat readiness.

    2. Tools and Weapons: The combination of construction tools (wrench, hammer) and a machine gun reflects the Seabees’ unique dual role. They are not only builders but also trained combatants, capable of constructing infrastructure in war zones while defending themselves and their missions.

    3. Sailor’s Cap: The sailor’s cap ties the Seabees to their naval roots, emphasizing their service as part of the U.S. Navy’s Construction Battalion (CB), from which the Seabee name originates.

    4. Flying: The bee in flight symbolizes the Seabees’ ability to operate across the globe, often in remote or dangerous locations, responding to a wide range of missions, from military operations to humanitarian aid.

    History:

The Seabee logo was designed during World War II, around the time when the Construction Battalions (CBs) were first formed. Since its inception, the logo has come to represent the Seabees’ motto, “We Build, We Fight,” encapsulating their engineering and construction prowess alongside their combat readiness.

The emblem is a badge of pride for the Seabees and a symbol of their reputation for accomplishing seemingly impossible construction tasks under challenging conditions while remaining prepared to defend their efforts if necessary.

Naval Construction Group One (NCG-1) leads and manages the overall capability and readiness of Naval Construction Regiments, Naval Mobile Construction Battalions, Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit, and Underwater Construction Team. NCG1 is responsible for manning, training, equipping and deploying combat-ready Naval Construction Force units in support of combatant commanders and Navy component commanders.
