Cpl. Nicholas Aguirre, a military working dog handler with the Provost Marshal’s Office Kennel and a Banning, Calif., native, praises Lutyo, a military working dog, after finding a drug scent during narcotics training at The Great Escape aboard Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., Feb. 13. Before being certified to work the roads on their own, Aguirre and Lutyo must undergo certification courses as a team. These courses include narcotics searches like the ones handlers use for weekly training.
