Dan Dennison, communications director for the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources announces the kickoff of the week-long "Don't Let it Loose" campaign as declared in a written proclamation by Hawaii Gov. Josh Green, which Dadia Ellis, the public information and event planning specialist at the University of Hawaii, holds up for display at the Waikiki Aquarium on Oct. 28, 2024. The week-long campaign, which the Navy is supporting, includes talks, webinars, and a Waikiki Aquarium tank that holds invasive species which have taken over areas of Pearl Harbor including the Pulse coral (Unomia stolonifera), the Kenya tree coral (Capnella spicata), the hammer coral, the green Majano anemone, and the Rhodactis mushroom coral, a green corallimorph.
