Leaders assigned to Naval Base Ventura County Port Hueneme commands conduct a groundbreaking ceremony for the future P491 Combat Vehicle Maintenance Facility on base in Port Hueneme, Calif., Oct. 28, 2024. P491 Combat Vehicle Maintenance Facility will support multiple Naval Construction Group One (NCG 1) command units with built-in equipment, consisting of 24 maintenance bays with direct support tool rooms, parts storage, shops that include tire changing, battery, welding, body shop, hydraulic shop, parts cleaning system and Electronic Monitoring and Control System (EMCS). NCG 1 is homeported in Pt. Hueneme, California, and leads and manages the overall capability and readiness of its Naval Construction Regiments, Naval Mobile Construction Battalions, Construction Battalion Maintenance Unit, and Underwater Construction Team. NCG1 provides the required engineering support that the Navy and Nation needs to construct and maintain base facilities, repair battle damaged facilities, conduct defensive operations as required, and to meet disaster preparedness and recovery missions.
