Naval Postgraduate School Marine Corps Staff Deputy for Research, Capt. Anthony Pollman, left, speaks with Commanding General I Expeditionary Force Lt. Gen. John Toolan Jr., center, during a campus meeting, Feb. 25. Pollman has been instrumental in developing a plan to increase the direct connection between Marine Corps student theses at the university with the immediate needs of the service. Pollman's efforts have been reviewed and supported by the highest levels of Marine Corps training and education leadership. Pollman seeks to reduce or eliminate redundancy and duplication of effort, expenditure of precious resources and under utilized research assets. Under his plan, a Marine Corps thesis Research Working Group solicits Marine Corps agencies to communicate their needs directly to NPS faculty and students. Polman's intent is to leverage an economical and underutilized research asset and create a single, standard forum to interface between organizations. He contends that this systematic approach will be a repeatable and create enduring partnerships which will support Marine Corps research objectives and make NPS research directly relevant to the Warfighter.
