As part of the Total U.S. Army Career Fair - Los Angeles, the Army team gathers at the Community and Educational Leader Summit at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park in Inglewood, Calif., Nov. 1, 2024. The Summit included an Army Opportunities Panel, networking lunch, and a Community Leader Panel. During the Army Opportunities Panel, Deputy G-1 Roy Wallace, Deputy Commanding General of the 40th Infantry Division Brig. Gen. Marlena DeCelle, Command Sergeant Major of the U.S. Army Recruiting Battalion Los Angeles Command Sgt. Maj. Marcos Vazquez, and Commander of the 8th Brigade Army ROTC Col. George Plys shared their perspectives on seeking talent for the Army as a uniformed or civilian member of the Army. In addition, the panelists shared their perspectives and experiences in California and the vital role that the Army plays in communities and regions throughout the Golden State. During the Community Leader Panel, Army veterans and currently serving Soldiers, including Centinela Valley Union High School District Superintendent Dr. Stephen Nellman, State Senator Bob Archuleta, Carson City Manager David C. Roberts, Jr., and Rosemead Mayor Steven Ly, discussed how their experiences in the Army shaped their futures as community leaders throughout the Los Angeles Area and at the state level.
