Alex Thompson, a mechanic in the Module Repair Section (Shop 67), came through the apprentice program and has been at Norfolk Naval Shipyard for six years. “One of the best opportunities you can have is at the shipyard and I wanted to take that opportunity with electronics, I felt like it was a good fit,” he said. When talking about his current job, Thompson explains what he enjoys about the work. “[I enjoy] the troubleshooting and the problem solving aspect of it all. The theory of electrons and electronics, it just fascinates me and it’s a whole thing like physics and all that, I just geek out about it.”
