U.S. Sen. Mark Warner speaks to his Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and Defense Counterintelligence and Security (DCSA) audience, congratulating Virginia Tech prior to the presentation of DCSA’s Jack Donnelly Award for Excellence in Counterintelligence to the university at a ceremony held in Blacksburg, Va., on Nov. 22.
DCSA Director David Cattler presented the award to Virginia Tech President Dr. Timothy Sands who accepted it on behalf of the university. The award - presented only to entities cleared by the federal government to deter, detect and disrupt the theft of classified information - recognized Virginia Tech for being a national leader in counterintelligence.
“In a world where more and more of our adversaries want to try to steal our technology, steal our secrets – for Virginia Tech to get this kind of national recognition, it’s great for the institution and as chairman as the intelligence community, I’m really proud,” Warner told reporters after the event.
