241128-N-FG395-1228 COMMANDER, FLEET ACTIVITIES YOKOSUKA, Japan (November 28, 2024) - Culinary Specialist 1st Class Alvic Dedios, a baker assigned to Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka, serves a slice of cake to a child at the Commodore Matthew C. Perry General Mess during an Open Galley Event on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28. The galley staff spent two days preparing 22 turkeys, 17 baked hams, 15 ribeye roasts, and 10 pans of traditional sides including macaroni and cheese, sweet potatoes with marshmallows, and green bean casserole among other favorites in anticipation of serving approximately 1,000 Thanksgiving meals to Sailors, Marines, Soldiers and base community members over the three-hour service.
