A Montford Point Association member salutes as a color guard as it marches on the colors during the national anthem at the christening of the USNS Montford Point, March 2. The ship is the Navy’s first mobile landing platform, and was named to honor the 20,000 black Marines who trained aboard Camp Montford Point, N.C., in the 1940s.
