Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) Deputy Director Daniel Lecce tells his Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) Software Engineering Institute (SEI) audience that “CMU exemplifies the collaboration, creativity and innovation needed today, while ensuring our national security for tomorrow.”
After his remarks, Lecce presented the Jack Donnelly Award for Excellence in Counterintelligence to the CMU Software Engineering Institute’s security leaders at a ceremony held in Pittsburgh on Dec. 3.
“We all want valuable contributors and partners in this fight. The counterintelligence world does not often give recognition by design or celebrate success, so I'm honored to do so today,” Lecce told the university’s leadership, researchers and operations professionals as well as DCSA counterintelligence and security leaders. “A sincerest congratulations and thank you for the work that you do. I'm proud to present the Jack Donnelly Award for Excellence in Counterintelligence to the Carnegie Mellon University Software Engineering Institute.”
The award citation states that DCSA honored the university with the award for maintaining superior counterintelligence programs that achieved extraordinary results in thwarting foreign-directed theft of U.S. technology in fiscal year 2023.
