U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Kyle M. Shendler, a bulk fuel specialist with 8th Engineer Support Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 27, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, and a native of Albany, New York, turns on a suction hose to give fuel to a CH-53K Super Stallion with Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 461, 2nd Marine Air Wing, during bulk refuel operations on Marine Corps Air Station New River, North Carolina, Dec. 11, 2024. Shendler was selected as Warrior of the Week for his exceptional initiative to develop, coordinate, and execute Bulk Fuel Company’s comprehensive training plan. His decisiveness and mental agility enabled the successful administration of eight training classes, educating 130 Marines across a wide range of critical skill sets, directly contributing to mission readiness and team cohesion. When asked about what the importance of being a noncommissioned officer is, Shendler replied, “Marines are watching you every day, so it is important to set the right example for them.” he continues, “The big thing for me is making sure I have the knowledge and skills to properly teach them, so I can gain their trust and respect.” Each week, 2nd MLG recognizes one outstanding Marine or Sailor that goes above and beyond in their duties and embodies the qualities of an outstanding service member.
