Oregon Army National Guard Col. Jonathan Van Horn (center), State Surgeon, Oregon Medical Command, trains together with Benson Polytechnic High School students and Maj. Christopher Killen (on table), Physician Assistant, 102nd Civil Support Team, during an ultrasound class at the Kliever Armory in Portland, Oregon on January 6, 2024. The students, who are working on becoming clinically certified medical assistants, got hands on instruction and training to help evaluate and diagnose patients. Killen, who received 14 ultrasounds that day, said it was an “enjoyable experience (with the students) and was extremely impressed with their professionalism.” Benson High School is a 4-year career-technical focused high school located on the east side of Portland.
