Crews begin digging trenches along the western flank of the existing Port Arthur hurricane protection system in late December. PAV03A will take roughly four years to complete and involves construction of fronting protection for the Lakeside, Alligator Bayou, and Port Acres pumping stations. The work is part of other flood mitigation upgrades to strengthen the levee, which was originally constructed between 1966 to 1983.
