Lt. Cmdr. John Tranberg, certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) and clinical site director for the Uniformed Services University’s nurse anesthesia program at Naval Hospital Jacksonville, advises Lt. Lawrence Donelson, student registered nurse anesthetist (SRNA), on procedures in the operating room. Tranberg says, “CRNAs are responsible for navigating the patient through the perioperative setting. We form relationships with the patient, surgeons and nurses, all while keeping the patient safe and comfortable throughout their surgery.” CRNA Week is Jan. 19-25, celebrating CRNAs who safely administer more than 25 million anesthetics each year and deliver exceptional care to patients who rely on them for protection during their most vulnerable moments.
