A 12th Air Task Force Airman salutes the 2nd Battalion, 363rd Training Support Regiment, Task Force “Black Scorpion” commander after being recognized for merit following a culminating field exercise for 12th Air Task Force Airmen at the Fort Bliss Training Complex, New Mexico, Jan. 19, 2025. Air Force air task forces are a modern approach to deployment, with each ATF aligning individuals from a set pool of Air Force installations to join task forces to train and deploy together, rather than training only within their home units and deploying as units. This effort, called Air Force Force Generation, or AFFORGEN, aims to bolster cohesiveness for teams when they are deployed. As part of their Air Force Security Forces-based training, ATFs are traveling to Fort Bliss to be trained by Task Force Black Scorpion observer, controller, trainers (OCTs).
