"I'm the first line of medical care for these Soldiers," said Sgt. Avery Carpenter of Brantley, Ala., a combat medic with the 129th Medical Company Area Support (MCAS). "It's also my responsibility to carry a weapon and get into the fight. To take care of the team I have to be a part of the team."
