    U.S. Department of Agriculture,  Animal & Plant Health Inspection Service, biological science technician, Matthew Legare, works with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville Districts, Invasive Species Branch to manage iguanas, pigeons and feral hogs on federal properties. These are just a few of the invasive animals that can damage critical infrastructure. A 2021 study estimated that invasive species have cost North America $2 billion per year in the early 1960s to over $26 billion per year since 2010 (Crystal-Ornela, R. et al. 2021).  It takes a team of federal, state and local experts working together to minimize the threat to human safety and the social impacts.   (U.S. Army Photo by Brigida I.
