Soldiers at U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden proudly donned a new patch during a ceremony held on Clay Kaserne on Feb. 19, symbolizing their official alignment with the 56th Multi-Domain Command. This significant change follows the recent issuance of Headquarters Department of the Army Execute Order 123-25, which designates all uniformed personnel at the garrison as being under Tactical Control (TACON) of the Senior Commander, Maj. Gen. John Rafferty.
This impressive shoulder sleeve insignia was originally approved for the 56th Artillery Brigade on 9 June 1971. It was redesignated for the 56th Multi-Domain Command 4 August 2021.
On a 3-inch disc with a white border, a scarlet disc is centered on a blue background. At the center is a vertical black missile silhouette outlined in white, issuing to the base a white-edged scarlet flame and a white smoke cloud. The missile is flanked by two diagonal yellow lightning flashes issuing from either side of the nose cone.
Scarlet and gold are the colors used for field artillery; blue denotes the assigned infantry support. The destructive power and target capability of the Pershing missile are suggested by the red disc at the center, and the upright missile signifies the unit's readiness. The lightning flashes refer to the ability of the missile team to act and strike quickly when needed.
