U.S. Army Spc. Tracey Perez, an automated logistical specialist assigned to the 3622nd Support Maintenance Company, 213th Regional Support Group, shares her journey to the Pennsylvania National Guard during an interview at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, March 2, 2025.
Perez hails from the Dominican Republic. She came to the United States in June 2022 and now lives in Allentown. Perez joined the Pennsylvania National Guard in in April 2024.
"I joined the PA Guard to create a better future for my family and myself," Perez said.
Her parents are expected to join her in PA within the year, and make her family whole again. She is excited about the opportunity to be able to provide for her family and connect them with health insurance, citizenship and education benefits.
"I never thought I would be doing something like this, never in my wildest dreams," Perez said. "I used to question myself if this was the right thing for me to be pursuing, but I made it and I'm really glad I stuck with it."
