Brendan McLane, commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, right, views a mine countermeasures (MCM) mission package aboard the Independence-class littoral combat ship USS Santa Barbara (LCS 32) alongside the ship's commanding officer, Cmdr. Adam Ochs. Santa Barbara is equipped with an MCM mission package, which includes an integrated suite of unmanned maritime systems and sensors that locate, identify, and destroy mines, allowing the ship to conduct a full spectrum of detect-to-engage operations.
