U.S. Army Col. Stephen Skells, commander of the 207th Military Intelligence Brigade - Theater , joined Soldiers and community leaders in hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the renaming and opening of Caserma Miotto on Jan. 24, 2025, in Longare, Italy. The base was renamed in honor of Italian Army Corporal Major Matteo Miotto, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2010.
Corporal Major Miotto's family gave their remarks honoring his service and his legacy, which graces permanently on Italian-U.S. relations. Caserma Miotto will house the 207th MIB -T and stands as a tribute to Miotto’s courage and the enduring bond between the Italian and U.S. armies.
