Ms. Tesa Lanoy, U.S. Special Operations Command chief financial officer/comptroller, and Brig. Gen. Derek Lipson, U.S. Special Operations Command Korea commander, discuss budget priorities for, return on investment, and accountability of U.S. special operations forces (SOF) on the Korean Peninsula on Jan. 25, 2025, at Camp Humphreys, Republic of Korea. The presence of ready and lethal SOF personnel on the Korean Peninsula enables a U.S. foreign policy in times of peace, competition, and conflict. Additionally, U.S. SOF’s unique ability to enable Allied and Partner forces, like their ROK counterparts, maximizes the regional return on investment from such a small force.
