Soldiers from the 82nd Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Company (Airborne), 10th Special Forces Group and Nuclear Disablement Team (NDT) 1, 20th CBRN Command, cross-train on nuclear material detection tools and equipment at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md., Feb. 13, 2025. NDTs directly contribute to the nation’s strategic deterrence by exploiting and disabling nuclear and radiological weapons of mass destruction (WMD) infrastructure and components to deny near-term capability to adversaries. Enhanced CBRN readiness increases lethality, survivability, and preparedness of soldiers to deter the use of WMD and matches adversarial threats to U.S. military capabilities.
