U.S. and ROK special operations forces conduct routine combined training during exercise Freedom Shield 2025

A U.S. Air Force flight engineer assigned to 353rd Special Operations Wing scans the air to the rear of a CV-22 Osprey in flight during exercise Freedom Shield 2025 over the Republic of Korea, March 10, 2025. The Freedom Shield exercise series occurs twice a year and acts as a means for ensuring the combined lethality of the U.S. and ROK militaries to meet mutual homeland defense priorities. U.S. Special Operations Forces regularly train with Allies and Partners as a means to increase readiness, deter and degrade aggression, and preserve a free and open Indo-Pacific region while remaining ready to prevail in conflict if called upon.
