Oregon Army National Guard Sgt. Ethan Smallman, assigned to the 741st Brigade Engineer Battalion, is recognized for his 2nd place finish in the NCO tier by Command Sgt. Maj. Lee Smith, the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for the Oregon National Guard during the Awards Ceremony held on March 15, 2025, as part of the 2025 Oregon National Guard Best Warrior competition held at Camp Rilea, near Warrenton, Oregon from March 13-15, 2025. Smallman will take part in the Region VI championships later this year. The full-range of events assessed the warriors' physical fitness, land navigation skills, marksmanship, and other battlefield scenarios. These included a physical fitness test, rifle qualification, a 3-gun competition, an obstacle course, and a ruck march.
